Decorator Apocalypse

A decorator's sensibility lives on in these collages. Tidily shaped with tasteful palettes, some subdued, some bold, surely they could liven up any space resurrected from the rubble. Fabric and bones just go together naturally. Indeed, the history of fabrics is knotted and littered with bones; take Bangladeshi silk for example, for an instant. The collages seem particularly suited to the world now with its genocides, corruptions, and obsessions with territory and profits. Humans are a remarkable species, but we've never been very nice even though some mumble about the better angels of our nature. When it comes to image, we're skillful at denial and we should not forget that deceit is a well honed strategy that has a billion year history of evolutionary success. Lots of life is good at it, and perhaps we are exemplary for our accomplishments in self deception. But I digress. These pieces could be fitting decor for the New Middle East Riviera dreamed up by the demented old felons with rapacious maws.

Fabric, paper, paint, air dried clay, on mounted hardboard. Pieces are all 24" x 24"
